A full-scale Victorian revival

After years of renting and dreaming of life in Clapham, our clients have finally found their perfect home in the heart of the Nightingale Triangle—one of South West London’s most coveted pockets. Brimming with character and period features, the Victorian property holds incredible potential, though it needs a thoughtful and modern transformation to match the couple’s energy and refined taste.

This project marks a significant chapter for our clients: the chance to create their first home that truly reflects who they are. With that vision in mind, we have begun a full-scale refurbishment—redefining spaces across the house to weave together timeless tradition with a bold, contemporary design.

Before

Currently awaiting planning permission for larger structural works, we have launched into the design phase with a deep dive into our clients’ preferences. Through comprehensive questionnaires and collaborative conversations, we have developed a tailored design brief that captures their aesthetic, functional needs, and lifestyle.

Reimaging each space

The scope of the transformation includes a carefully curated selection of rooms: the entrance hall and landing, formal sitting room, WC, kitchen, snug, master suite (complete with ensuite and dressing room), guest bedroom, and a spacious family bathroom. Each space is being reimagined to hold its own personality while remaining connected through a cohesive design, rooted in traditional style but brought to life with bold contrasts, moody palettes, and layered modern detailing.

The sitting room, for example, will retain its beautiful cornicing and fireplace while being enveloped in rich, sultry tones—a sophisticated backdrop for striking artwork and tactile textures. Meanwhile, the kitchen and snug will embody a more relaxed elegance, with contemporary finishes, bespoke cabinetry, and carefully considered lighting that elevates both function and mood.

Balancing heritage and innovation

One of the key aspects of this project is achieving a balance between heritage and innovation, elegance and comfort, and boldness and restraint. Joinery plays a vital role here—from bespoke wardrobes and storage solutions to statement shelving and cabinetry, each piece will be designed to feel built-in, intentional, and tailored to the space.

Our design visuals serve as the narrative thread, enabling our clients to fully experience and refine each room before it’s brought to life. Through moodboards, elevations and 3D visualisations, we are designing a home to not only look beautiful on paper but also striking in real life, where every detail feels considered.

Design Progress

As we await final planning approvals, the momentum continues behind the scenes, laying the foundation for a home as vibrant, warm, and stylish as the couple who live there. It’s a privilege to help shape their vision, and I look forward to sharing more of the journey as this bold, characterful transformation unfolds.
