SBID Awards Finalist 2026. And for the third year running

Bathroom Transformations, Reigate, Surrey has been named a finalist at the SBID International Design Awards 2026, in the Residential Budget Up to £50,000 category. You can read about my 2024 and 2025 nominations as well.
Being shortlisted for the third time, and for a project you know has enhanced your clients' day-to-day living, means a lot to me.
The brief came from a family of five: a couple and their three young children, sharing two outdated bathrooms that no longer worked for how they lived. The project asked for two distinct solutions under one roof — a retreat for the parents, and a space built to withstand three children's daily use without losing any of its character.
The master ensuite was reconfigured around calm. A walk-in shower and double vanity gave the space room to breathe, and vintage storage pieces were curated intentionally, rather than fitted as an afterthought—practical without feeling clinical.

The children's bathroom had the harder brief: a genuinely difficult footprint, and a room that needed to survive three young children while still feeling considered. Bespoke storage solved the space constraints. A concealed cupboard disguised as artwork solved the rest—proof that storage doesn't have to announce itself to do its job. Plus, covering up a window, whilst controversial, absolutely recentres the room!

Design for a family at this stage of life is design for change — for how a five-year-old's bathroom routine differs from a teenager's, for storage that still works when small hands can't yet reach a high shelf, for a room built to adapt rather than be redone. That's not a separate consideration bolted onto the brief. It's the brief.
